Tension Fabric Structure
Calibre has become a trusted contractor with Sprung Instant Structures. We have erected tension fabric structures all over Southern Alberta.
A Sprung Structure can usually be erected within a few weeks of being ordered.
Sprung's design team is able to adapt to many of our clients' unique needs.
The insulation system outperforms other types of construction, lowering operating costs. In addition, there is virtually no air leakage.
In July of 2022, Calibre erected a Sprung Instant Structure greenhouse for West Island College. The greenhouse was installed on an uneven asphalt parking lot. In order to accommodate the sloped and uneven parking lot, we custom-fabricated and installed specialty baseplates. The structure was anchored to the ground with base plate pins and earth anchors driven several feet into the ground. This project was completed ahead of schedule, and on budget.

In September 2022, Calibre erected an insulated Sprung Instant Structure with a vestibule for the Government of Alberta. The project included erecting a Sprung Instant Structure on a concrete pad, installing personnel doors, an overhead door and an exhaust fan, interlocked with a louvred opening. The purpose of this structure was to breed and study West Slope Cut Throat Trout. This project was completed ahead of schedule and on budget.

In May of 2021, Calibre erected a Sprung Instant Structure next to a glacier at the Columbia Icefields. This was a very remote project where we installed the structure on permafrost. We designed and installed an Eco Block foundation upon which the structure was installed. This project also included installation of personnel doors, an overhead door, a new electrical panel, lights and receptacles. All to be run off of a generator. The purpose of this structure was to house and maintain icefield tour buses. This project was completed on time and on budget.
In the summer of 2022, Calibre erected a 30' x 40' insulated Sprung Structure. This building was to be a temporary classroom structure while plans for a permanent school were underway. Calibre installed a level, compacted gravel pad, where we installed a temporary foundation consisting of concrete eco blocks and wood framing. A set of steps were built on one end of the structure, with a wheelchair-accessible ramp on the other.
In the summer of 2022, Calibre created a space to house a restored carousel that was over 100 years old. The land was contoured to accept the new structure, and paved pathways were created to access the carousel. We installed concrete footings into the ground for the carousel to sit on and provided an asphalt pad as a floor for the structure. This 40' round Sprung Structure was heated by mounting an RTU on a stand outside, then ducting into the building. The electrical conduit was run underground from the control booth to the center of the carousel to power the ride, lighting, receptacles, emergency lighting, and exit signage was installed.
This was a Major project that involved extensive demolition and in-depth renovations and repairs to all apartment decks to bring them up to modern standards and meet the code.
Demolition consisted of removing the pergola structures and removal of all decks, including membranes, sheathing, joists, support beams and ledgers. Construction included forming, reinforcing and pouring new concrete pile caps and construction of new decks using pressure-treated posts anchored to the newly installed pile caps. New membranes to conform to CAN CGSB-37.54-95 PVC Roofing and Waterproofing were installed. We also installed lower privacy wall framing for each apartment. Restoration of all stucco was completed. Soffits, cladding and cap flashing, were all replaced.
