Bonavista Estates Condo Board in South Calgary selected Calibre to complete work to their attic space in two of their three buildings. Working with Optimize Envelope Engineering, we installed permanent and proper safety lighting and walkways in the attics and made numerous repairs to their fire and smoke barriers within each section of the roof space.
Calibre Carpenters and the HVAC team successfully carried out all necessary repairs, which made a major difference to the energy rating of the entire Complex.

The exterior insulation and finishing system (EIFS) was our main concern. The project involved working in extremely tight spaces between neighbouring buildings and the use of large aerial lift equipment. This meant that Health and Safety Standards were going to be of very high priority, with overhead works being carried out while maintaining care and protection for all homeowners, visitors, and the public in general.

Demolition consisted of removing the pergola structures and removal of all decks, including membranes, sheathing, joists, support beams, and ledgers. Construction included forming, reinforcing, and pouring new concrete pile caps and construction of new decks using pressure-treated posts anchored to the newly installed pile caps. New membranes to conform to CAN CGSB-37.54-95 PVC Roofing and Waterproofing were installed. We also installed lower privacy wall framing for each apartment. Restoration of all stucco was completed. Soffits, cladding, and cap flashing were all replaced.

This was no small feat, requiring critical coordination between street closures, crane operators, and concrete cutting, all taking place with minimal disruption to both apartment owners and the general public.
With all of the large equipment involved, safety was, as always, a priority, and with the help of Calibre's in-house Safety Officer, Hazard Assessments being carried out on a daily basis, Toolbox Meetings, and good supervision, we were able to complete this project without setbacks.
